Set in Chicago, Hesed follows the lives of two women with divergent worldviews. Elizabeth Ann Kelly is a young, devout Anglican priest, new to a troubled, ethnically diverse neighborhood. Beth carries an unspoken burden that has molded her life and her vision of the future. Nicole Isabel Thera is a respected business consultant and owner of the Elysian Fields, an entertainment establishment consisting of a pub, restaurant and dance club that caters to the lesbian and gay community. Nicole's public life is balanced with a quiet existence designed to contain the harsher consequences of a troubled life. As their respective journeys progress, the two women are confronted with personal and social challenges that ultimately alter the way they see themselves and each other.
If you do read Hesed, I look forward to receiving your comments.

I can't believe I missed this one for so long. Saw it this week on the top 25 and thought I would give it a try. Brillant, Amazing, Stupendous...there are not enough adjectives to describe Fate. It's a solid piece of writing. - Mary Feb 17th, 2006 |

I thought this was a really interesting and different story. I love that Gabrielle was the one who was the lead in this story but Xena was still the focus. It was a really interesting glimpse into the core of Xena and the bravery and loyalty of Gabrielle. - Taylor Feb 17th, 2006 |
please, ma'am, may i have some more? - orphic Feb 16th, 2006 |
Jane Fletcher continually comes up with the goods. Her characterisations are solid, her storylines well-constructed, and her writing style a pleasure. And she's very funny to boot! If you appreciate fine writing and fantasy, you'll find them both here. - K Alexander Feb 16th, 2006 |

I love Kate and Delta, what a different way for two people to meet. I really enjoyed the way they were drawn to each other. Its a sweet romance. - Jane Feb 6th, 2006 |
This is a well written story, crossing cultures and taking us back to a different time. The references to nature, cultures, and languages are well thought out, and are incorperated smoothly into the story. I'd like to see Robyn take Alicia back to her tribe, and see things from Alicias' point of view. I truly ejoyed reading this story and hope there is a sequel ! - Kelly Feb 6th, 2006 |
i love this story, please plaese a sequel.... - grace faith Feb 6th, 2006 |
This is a really beautiful, erotic, and heartfelt story about the budding (but problematic) romance between Xena and Gabrielle. One of their adventures stirs up something in Gabrielle's past, and once the "thread is pulled," everything just comes apart. I loved the way the author made this alternate version of Gabrielle's past (and the way she met Xena at Poteidaia) so believeable. I also loved seeing Xena save Gabrielle's soul, for once! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - xena_stickdoll Feb 6th, 2006 |
oh my i love this story. i read it five time and I love the last part of it... the end of the story is wonderful and so beautiful one of the best stories i have read the best story ever...please please write a sequel.... - grace faith Feb 6th, 2006 |
Funny, god written and with some interesting reflexions well hidden. - Riva Feb 6th, 2006 |
I love the first 17 chapters, please, please, please can we get an update soon? - Emma Feb 6th, 2006 |
I love witches so this story interested me from the begining. I never saw the movie it was based on but I rented it after I read this cause I loved it so much. The movie was fun but this was more my cup of tea. I really loved it. I adore Pru, What a nice woman, she really seems to be the best of all my favorite witches. Even a bit of Sam from Bewitch. Well done Ri. - Raya Feb 4th, 2006 |
I like the Promise Me Again, can't wait for the finished version. - Sydney Feb 2nd, 2006 |
Well.... That required several Kleenex I can tell you. I have just finished this, the last in the Lion series. I love Jim Kuntz writing style, pace and perceptiveness. This story, however, was for me the best one yet. A fitting end to our Warrior and her Bard, this was how a FIN should have been. Keep em coming Jim! - Anex Feb 1st, 2006 |
This story is very well written, the characters are great and I'm looking forward to more about these characters. Thanks, Erin, for a great read. - Sherry Jan 31st, 2006 |
Awesome story, and good to see original Xena stuff again! Really well written and sexy. Great plot. I was as surprised as Xena to find out that Gabrielle was not so innocent and even had a thing with a goddess!! - Periwinkle Jan 31st, 2006 |
I love this story. I think Meka is so interesting. I love her relation to her father and brother and her love of Monti. It is fun to read of life in this setting. Real well done tale. - Jamelli Jan 31st, 2006 |
"kissed you stupid!" HAH!!! Larisa, you are INCREDIBLE...and the funniest damn stuff I've EVER read.....Thank you. - Anonymous Jan 29th, 2006 |
This is a wonderful series. A third is needed to clear up some unanswered questions? The reader is definitely left hanging. - jac Jan 29th, 2006 |
Amazing plot, charecters, and style of writing. Loved it. - Mary Jan 29th, 2006 |

I am simply in awe of this brilliant story. If you are a true X:WP fan than you must read Storms of War. I almost called in sick because I didn't want to stop reading! Okay, so that one day doesn't really count... - Sparky Jan 26th, 2006 |
I do not recommend this story for anyone that wants to get to sleep on time. |
I would like to read this story but the formatting makes it too hard to read. The pages are too wide. Is there some way that this could be rectified? - Rocky Jan 25th, 2006 Editor's Note: Fixed... |

This is a very funny Larisa tale. If you need a good laugh, this is one to read. - Aerows- Jan 19th, 2006 |
An absolute classic Xena fanfiction that should NOT BE MISSED!! Written after the end of the show's run, this shows that great Xena/Gabrielle fanfiction can still be produced. Wonderful! - Kerry Jan 19th, 2006 |
This is a delightful, easy read. (My only wish is that I could read a whole book from Anne.) It's also nice to read some "grown up" lesbian fiction where the characters are older than 20 and are living and dealing with life (…not just experiencing pure lesbian drama). I am now attached to the characters because I can't help but like them and relate to their realness. Anne has the ability to write in a straight-forward way that leaves the reader just enough room for their own imagination to play. I think the word for this type of writing is eloquent. - Rita B Jan 19th, 2006 |
I love to read this story over and over again! - querdenker69 Jan 18th, 2006 |
more , more , annieSA donot stop writting girl. - barb Jan 18th, 2006 |
Great story!!! i highly recomend it. we need a sequel!!! - d Jan 17th, 2006 |
What a sweet story. A perfect little jewel of a tale. - Lari Jan 17th, 2006 |
I read this last too but it doesn't make any difference. Loved it! Loved the style the writer has used. Full of humor and emotion and I couldn't stop reading once I started. Thank you. - Vicky Jan 17th, 2006 |
What a story! So many emotions in here and it scared the crap out of me at times too. This is so atmospheric and cleverly written. Well done, Fingersmith. Any chance of a sequel? - Vicky Jan 17th, 2006 |
I don't usually get into the halloween or horror stories. HOWEVER, this story was very intriguing and it kept me reading. Yes, it had blood and gore but it had drama and a bit of humor. The character of Gigamore was very unique. This is the best Halloween offering I remember reading. Zee, if the mood or muse ever strikes you, I would definitely read a sequel, especially involving Gigamore. - Gabsfan Jan 16th, 2006 |
brilliant! - KatrinaššJan 16th, 2006 |
I really liked this, it was definitely cute. It was a nice plot concept... a scrooge Conqueror. And it was great to see a new Conqueror story. Thank you! - Red Hope Jan 15th, 2006 |
A wonderful read. Absolutely enthralling, so much so that the reader feels as though they cannot remove their eyes from the screen, stop the anticipation or simply put the book out of their mind. It is a wonderful recountment and anecdotal interpretation of the author's thought processes and immersion into a love that she never thought could exist in her realm. I loved reading about the barbed-wire fences, so to speak, that the two had to climb and conquer to make their love work. Give us more and please, tell us that your love lasts! I think many of us would like to find a love as significant as this. Does it get any better? - Anonymous Jan 15th, 2006 |
A great story from a legend in Xena fanfiction. There may not be much in the way of subtext, but the love is there for all to see. Go read for a bit of nostalgia and remember just how good classic fanfic used to be. - Kerry Jan 15th, 2006 |
Superb! This is highly recommended to all those that pine for the old classic days of fanfiction. We need more of this please!! :) - Kerry Jan 15th, 2006 |
This is a great classic Xena and Gabrielle story, the kind where they arrive at a town where something's wrong and they fix it. It's early on in their travels together, and there's romance in the air. A playful yet dark tale, with interesting supporting characters, and an original plot. - Lady O' The Lake Jan 13th, 2006 |
This story gives a deep meditation of Xena and Gab's complicated feeling, hatred, grieve, rue, and most important the insistence of the love to each other. It is hard to see our favorite x&g to tell their suffering, but after we know how hey felt, it is easier to accept their reunite than "the rift". It is worth to be read. - wind Jan 13th, 2006 |
Where is the story??? The link does not work!!!! - Coal Jan 13th, 2006 Editor's Note: Now it does!!!! |
Yet another wonderful story. A must read. Felt myself being a part of the story. Wish there were more accolade type adjectives to describe this gifted writer. Loved the depth of Lou's character and her relationship with her sister. - barb Jan 12th, 2006 |
Somthing More Than This is extremely well written with rich flavor, a growing plot, carismatic characters who reach out and make you wish you were there to share the emotions the passion and the excitement of thier world. I loved the smaller secondary bard tales, little stories, mixed in with the main plot. I loved the fact that the emotions careened out of control, running the gammit from joyous to fear then anguish and sorrow and stoicism, showing a truely gifted ability this writer has with words. I do not usually seek out the XWP work but I'm so happy I didnt pass on this one. Read it and enjoy. If you are a writer or someone that is learning to write...this piece of work shows a huge talent and skill that some stories posted on the net will never have. - JLNickymaster Jan 11th, 2006 |
i think this may be my new favorite story. never slowed down even when i expected it too. simply fantastic. - Anonymous Jan 11th, 2006 |
A definite must read! I was elated to find out there's a continuation, which the author has so far updated everyday. Never read any ST Voyager fiction until RJ Nolan's "Unexpected Arrival," which I could not put down until finished. Into the Void is another awsome story from an awsome and talented author. - blazinangelwings Jan 11th, 2006 |
I completely recommend this story. It’s different than Unexpected Arrival, but in such a cool way. I can’t wait to read more about Kara and Annika as well as Del and Seven! RJ Nolan has such an amazing way of showing depth and small character details in her writing. - Anonymous Jan 10th, 2006 |
This story has the potential to be one of the best in the uber-xenaverse, but sadly it remains unfinished after several years. Most of the fanfic indices only have the first two parts, but there are actually five total (google it). - Lynn Jan 9th, 2006 Editor's Note: Actually there are a total of 6 parts, and after 6 years, will likely never be completed. |
AWESOME!!! - Anonymous Jan 9th, 2006 |
Most of the stories don't show such deep feelings. This one however, shows them all, just how I have always imagined Xena's & Gabrielle's love. That is exactly what I look for in a good post-FIN story. Excellent job! *standing ovation* I'd love to read more pieces of Art written by this talented bard :) - AquariusG Jan 9th, 2006 |
I've read a lot stories during these past months and this is for sure one of the best so far. I highly recommend it. - querdenker69 Jan 9th, 2006 |
AWESOME!! - Anonymous Jan 8th, 2006 |
This story has some very engaging characters that beg for a sequel. Although the version I read could do with some editing, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the challenges everyone faces. I hope the authors keep writing, they have a lot of promise. - Anonymous Jan 8th, 2006 |
This is a very well written story that brought back a lot of memories of my youth. It is well worth the read! - Wannetta Wilson Jan 8th, 2006 |
Ambrosia has a way with putting quirky characters together. I was laughing through the funny parts, sighing at the romantic parts and grining at the good parts. It's a great story to read when you need an "Ambrosia Fix." Go on and read it. It's guaranteed to make you smile. - Mary Jan 7th, 2006 |
A wonderfull written story - I really enjoyed reading it a lot. - querdenker69 Jan 7th, 2006 |
Hey Fingersmith, you've gone and bloody done it again!!!!! Me and my other half loved it to bits, especially its very 'Britishness'!!! Thanks for all the effort and love you put into the story, it shows. A definate MUST READ!!! - sapphie Jan 6th, 2006 |
Read this at work ... and then again at home. What a story!! Loved it. Everything the narrator felt, I felt. This is too good a story to miss, and I will be reading Fingersmith's other two stories straight after this. I highly recommend it and can't wait to read the others. - Vicky Jan 6th, 2006 |

After reading In Too Deep via book, I was intrigued with Ms. Black's work. I am thrilled to find this adorable story along with a couple of others. This story shows how well Ms. Black captures characters. Thank you Ronica! - Lesfictionfairy Jan 4th, 2006 |
This story is AWESOME!! It takes a while to get through it, but believe me, it's worth it! I'll be checking other stories of this exceptional bard. Greetings - Bacchus Jan 4th, 2006 |

I love this story it is so adorable. I love TZ he or she is such a crative auther who puts such humoris passion in the his or her stories. - blue_cat Jan 2nd, 2006 |
why do you have these stories here if you cannot access them as it looks as if the stories have been lost??????????????????? - coal_damian Jan 2nd, 2006 Editor's Note: Calm down...breathe in...breathe out... Now, don't you feel better? We leave 'lost' stories up because the author may someday decide to repost them...and besides it doesn't hurt anything to keep them listed. They're clearly marked as...LOST. |
Marvelous! If you like intrigue and romance mixed with the "High Life" of the Entertainment industry in a futuristic setting, then this is the story for you! This tale is well-crafted, the plot-line well thought out and the descriptive prose puts the reader right in the middle of the action. Thanks for a thrilling read, JA -- where's the sequel??? - Therese Jan 2nd, 2006 |
Gifted author, Amy G. (aka Leslaureate), returns to fiction land, to captivate us with a very sweet and touching coming of age story. We first come to know, Solange (Sollie), through the eyes of her teenage journal, as glimpses of her past, up through her college years are revealed. As the story unfolds, we are drawn into the sweet alluring romance of first love and its sometimes unexpected, bitter after taste. Set against the backdrop of a high school reunion, Sollie learns that even in the mists of what seems like "Unanswered prayer", her deepest dreams are soon to be realized. This is a lesson we would all be wise to learn. Exceptionally entertaining romance, of women in love, that is filled with passion and betrayal, and takes off soaring, as the pages unfold. Highly recommended reading. Welcome back Amy, and I look forward to reading more from you! - Solar Jan 2nd, 2006 |
Dark but captivating. Absolution will keep you reading until the last word. It is so refreshing to read a story that isn't all rainbows and sunshine. To read a story which forces you to feel the hope, happiness, and pain of the characters as if it were your own. Well done. - cassie Jan 1st, 2006 |
The link on this and other stories from the "Finding Mavis" site come up as err-or! er-ror - 404! on angelfire, but if you switch the links to Academy of Bards they will work. - Draco Jan 1st, 2006 Editor's Note: We will try to get the rest of the findingmavis links changed to The Academy ASAP. |
I was cruising around the net and ran across this once again. I remember reading this before and thinking OH MY GOODNESS. This PWP is exceptionally well written, drawing your sex in with a clenching rise of desire. It has a continuing mini-plot that begs the imagination to wander into incredibly erotic arenas. I especially like the offered cigar at the end. This was extremely hot. I've scoured for the author's other works and am happy to know there are others. EXCELLENT! - JLNicky Jan 1st, 2006 |
This piece of work holds the condensed passion of this author's work. It must be read over, and over. The passion of/for The Red Rider will leave you breathless. Knowing what the truth is beneath, it's an image I'd like to be pressed up against when my 'forever' moment comes. On longing for MORE which her poetry pulses with: Author, I wait for the continuation of A Breath of Scandal. Will it happen? Or will it be 'nevermore'? - Anonymous Dec 31st, 2005 |
Hey, if u go 2 royal academy you can get 2 the second part from there. - bxverse666 Dec 31st, 2005 Editor's Note: Our links to the Alix and Valerie series have been changed to point to The Academy. |
