xena's little bitch is a beautiful storyteller. rarely have i read stories that touch me and bring back xena and gabrielle the way her stories do. she understands these characters and writes them in ways that touch your soul every time you read them. i hope she never tires of writing about them. - kjviking - Sep-28-2006

  • Parts 21-28 (122 more pages) of Cruise's alternative Original/Über Double Play (427 pages in 28 parts - unfinished).

  • We've a book publishing update today from KG MacGregor (www.kgmacgregor.com) –

I’m excited to announce the release of Mulligan (http://shop-host.net/cgi-bin/miva.cgi?Merchant2/merchant.mv+Screen=PROD&Store_Code=bella3&Product_Code=BMK1MUL) by Bella Books (ISBN #1594930708, $13.95). The book, which was briefly available last summer, is based on characters from the short story series of the same name, and will ship on October 4th. Thanks to all of you who wrote me about the short stories. Your ideas and comments made this a better book.

The days are long and lonely for Louise Stevens, whose retirement dreams were shattered by the sudden loss of her partner. All of that changes when she meets Marty Beck, a flirtatious, fun-loving, and infuriating golf pro who pushes her buttons—including one button she thought didn’t work anymore.

Marty is intrigued by the pretty Louise, a newcomer to the Pine Island Golf Club with a beautiful swing, but a disposition that needs work. Certain they can eventually be friends, she’s stymied when her good-humored overtures are rejected.

Love can come along at any time, even in the golden years, and even for two women who don’t expect it at all. Though a shaky start nearly dooms their romance, something tells Marty and Lou that this one might be worth a Mulligan.

The Pappas Journals II: In The Reich By Elaine Sutherland (Xena: Janice and Mel - 1900-1960, 20 Pages)
As good as the first in this series is, this surpasses it. This one is much sadder, given its contents, but is quite worth the read through and to the end. Both stories wrap history, philosophy, and Xena in a way that feels grounded and real, but also in a way that raises them well above ordinary. - Anonymous - Sep-27-2006

Coup de Grace By Vivian Darkbloom (Original / Uber - Modern, 100 Pages)
The best Janice and Mel story anywhere bar none. This is truly a wonderfully written fiction with enough humour, action, romance and the ever loveable rogue Janice for even the most ardent of fans. Viv is a genius and I think this is going to be the last fanfiction for a long while from her. So I suggest when you read it, cherish it, then read it again. Wonderful stuff. - Kez - Sep-24-2006

All That Matters By S X Meagher (Original / Uber - Modern, 658 Pages)
I just sent the author an email, but I figured, "Hey, I'll let everyone else know how much I loved this story.". The story was beautifully writting and not full of the same old tired "blue orbs looked into green circles and long, muscular arms encircled taut abdomens, yadda yadda..." And the dialogue was superb. I have NEVER laughed out loud reading anything in my life at an online fanfic story/novel. Well, I can't say that anymore. And, for an FYI, the ONLY time I've EVER laughed out loud at anything written was when I've read any of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels (if you haven't read one, you have no idea what you're missing...).

I HIGHLY recommend this author regardless of the story. If it has SX Meagher attached to it anywhere, you're doing yourself a grave disservice by not reading it. SO READ IT!! - Kye Morgan - Sep-12-2006

Business Trip By Lady J (Original / Uber - Modern, 180 Pages)
This story has been wonderful. It's down to earth and realistic which I love. It also has some of the most humerous moments in it that had me laughing not only out loud but to the point tears were running down my face. I have heard that this little novella is finished, where is the rest? I am dying to see how this ends and even though I don't want to see the end of these two I am hoping that there will be more. Lady J you have done a phenominal job with this one and I personally want to see more. - Pam - Sep-11-2006
The Edge of Nowhere By Annemaart (X:WP, 336 Pages)
If you don't normally read Conqueror stories think about changing your habits with this wonderful piece of fiction. Gabrielle is a strong and very capable resistance fighter, but her will and her heart are tested by the very charming Xena The Conqueror. Xena's not perfect by any stretch, but she sure is likeable here. I've read this a number of times now and I still love it. Drango Gap - Book 1 By RangerLiz (Original / Uber - Modern, 177 Pages)
I really enjoyed this story and would love to see a continuation in book 2. I loved the way it started with Dinathe and her military life, and then went into Meredith in the Forrest. So many stories have the stoic tall dark UX back story somewhere in the middle. I had no problem with the timeline involving Meredith and Dinathe getting together because everything else was coming together as part of the main story. There were places where the back story was misplaced and I got confused in terms of present/past. There were just so many characters that I found myself going back several times when something signifcant happened. Overall, I loved the story and the subject matter. I had to wonder was the writer a pilot or a ranger, or both. Great read. Please complete book 2. - gayzer - Sep-04-2006

A VERY emotional read, great characters, and most importantly, very realistic characters. I truly recommend this to anyone! Especially ones looking for an awesome hurt/comfort story. I guarentee this story will stick with you for a long long time. - Anonymous - Sep-02-2006

I loved this one! It's simply superb!! Another magnificent story by Fingersmith! A must read indeed! Believe me, this one will make you laugh out loud so many times!!! And it will make you cry, will make you think. Such a delight and reflective at its best. You won't be disappointed!! It's just so easy for us to judge, blame, set rules to what's right or wrong, when everything is so relative. And that's one of the things this story embraces so well. It makes you see things from a different perspective, look at the bigger picture. And to quote the Author (if I'm allowed to :) ... ''Whether you feel the victim or the offender, you might in fact be a little of both.'' Fingersmith you are truly gifted! I've already bought 'hearts and flowers border' and beside it in my shelf is a special place reserved to add all the other books you'll publish! Congratulations! You've done it again! :)) - Ann - Aug-21-2006

  • We have an announcement from Lynn Ames today -

    Hi, folks.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note of gratitude. No author succeeds without the support of loyal fans and new readers, alike.

Yesterday, my newest novel The Flip Side of Desire, reached a milestone, climbing to #2 on Amazon.com's list of lesbian best-sellers. Believe me when I tell you that took some of the sting out of my 7 a.m. root canal (third time for the same tooth. LOL).

Many of you have heard me say in person or in interviews that The Flip Side is the most difficult book I've ever written in terms of the emotional demands it made on me as an author. To watch this novel succeed in such spectacular fashion is both humbling and gratifying to me beyond words.

So please accept my sincere and befuddled thanks for your continued support and readership.

    Best regards,

    Lynn

P.S. I'm looking forward to meeting those of you who will be in Portland, Oregon at my appearance (In Other Words Books) on August 17th. For those of you who can't make it, I expect to have pictures of the event on my website sometime the last week in August.

P.P.S. The pictures of Atlanta from June are now up in the appearances section of the website for your viewing pleasure. *wink*

The Road from Kilimanjaro) By KG MacGregor (Original / Uber - Modern, 127 Pages)
Inspiring and romantic, this is one of my very favorite stories. Though my own journeys of self-discovery have seldom been paralleled so metaphorically, The Road from Kilimanjaro hit very close to home for me -- and pleasantly so. There are very few stories I'd recommend more than this. - Catherine - Aug-07-2006
For The Love Of A Woman By S. Anne Gardner (X:WP, 105 Pages)
- Elena - Aug-06-2006

Thanks to all of you who have written looking for Just This Once. I’m happy to announce it is now available from Bella Books, with a brand new cover from Steph. You might recognize the story of Wynne Connelly and Paula McKenzie as one that appeared on the web as Getting It Right. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the feedback you sent on that story. Because of you, the book version is longer, with deeper insights into both of the lead characters, and more scenes from their road together. You can read the first chapter of the book at my website, www.kgmacgregor.com.

For anyone headed out to Provincetown, I’ll be signing copies of Just This Once and Undercover Tales at Vixen Nightclub on August 4th. It’s part of the Fridays at Four series, sponsored by Now Voyager Books, Vixen, & Cicchetti’s Espresso Bar. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends.

Darkness Falls By Melissa Good (X:WP, 240 Pages)
I really love the Journey of Soulmates series, & Darkness Falls is the best rift story I've ever read. The long slow healing process of Xena & Gabrielle is much more realistic than the quick fix the series laid on us. Melissa Good is a great writer and her works are riveting. I.ve read the Soulmates series at least 10 times over the last 4 years and Shadow of the Soul of the Merciless Series 8 times over the last 3 years. I.m glad the legend lives on through Ms. Good. - Draco - Jul-10-2006

I Found My Heart in San Francisco Book 1: Awakenings By S X Meagher (Original / Uber - Modern, 437 Pages)
Great read just finished the series up to Nuture. Kudos to SX Meagher for doing such a fantastic job. - Barrudaki - Jul-09-2006
A Million Ways By Xena's Little Bitch (X:WP, 4 Pages)
Wow. This is just plain well-written erotica. Very hot and very raunchy and very true to the characters, that is if you see them as totally hot for eachother. A smouldering first time story. Enjoy! - Warrior Gabrielle - Jul-09-2006
Maryland State Trooper # 1153 By Red Hope (Original / Uber - Modern, 337 Pages)

Praise You By Xena's Little Bitch (X:WP, 10 Pages)
I really liked this short story. It's got all the right ingredient packed in neatly to create this small but pefectly formed little gem. - Sai - Jul-07-2006
The Nipple Factory By JLNicky and Honeybakedham (Original / Uber - Modern, 44 Pages)
This is a madcap descent into madness with adorably insane characters and a wonderful inner dialogue. Where did you two come up with half these characters and the plot to start with?? Im sure a conversation with you two would leave me with broken ribs. Thanks for the laughs girls!! - Miss Understood - Jul-07-2006
A Kind of Warfare By de Bonheur (X:WP, 8 Pages)
    Multiple part 10's - Draco - Jul-06-2006
Editor's Note: These are now numbered correctly.  For what it's worth, when we moved The Athenaeum a few boxes were dropped, and it seems that most of the long +10 part series now have everything above 10 shown as...part 10. :sigh: Next time we'll be certain to hide the wine from the amazons until after everything is moved.
Da Nang By Larisa (Original / Uber - Modern, 52 Pages)
Unfortunate that this piece hasn't won more recognition than it has, it is fully as good as some of her works which have won the weekly no. 1 positions. It is not one of her comedic pieces, and honestly I'm glad to see she can write serious pieces along with the lighthearted ones. - Kudara - Jul-06-2006

Charlotte Bell By Angelrad (Original / Uber - Modern, 127 Pages)
Excellent story, brilliant writing style and well worth your time. Although as with another of AngelRad's stories (Where There's Smoke) I did yearn for more interaction between the two lead characters. But don't let that deter you, I could'nt put it down once I'd started. - Sai - Jul-05-2006
