There is a woman & her brother whose roles are that queen & king and they are somewhat competative. A somewhat alloof female knight ultimately becomes her champion and love interest. • Book Announcement from KG MacGregor --

I am happy to announce the return of Malicious Pursuit, available now from Bella Books. This was my first stab at writing a thriller, and I learned a great deal about pacing, twists and loose ends. Thanks to all of you who wrote me about the early version. I'm entertaining an idea for a sequel, so here's hoping MP finds an expanded audience among the Bella faithful and those new to lesbian fiction.

For those who purchased a previous edition, thank you, and please put your wallets away. You won't find any substantive changes in this one, just a correction here and there. The synopsis and first two chapters are available at www.kgmacgregor.com.

Editor's Note: *eyes wide* Damn Amazon imps! They stole another medal! Unfortunately after a thorough search, we couldn't located it, however we've replaced it with a shiny new one. We're very sorry for that, Fingersmith. (Yes, the Athenaeum is infested with young, rather unruly Amazonettes, who like to 'borrow' things without permission. Not steal, mind you, for they would be terribly hurt where they to be accused of being thieves. Alas it's usually near impossible to track down the specific young Amazon in question, beyond the occasional telltale sign of oatmeal cookie crumbs, muddy bare feet, or chocolate fingerprints. More then one fancies herself as a budding CSI, which unfortunately means they've grown all too clever at hiding their tracks...)
Obsession Returned By Darkenedkarma (Original / Uber - Modern, 16 Pages)
Wow, this sequel really is very compeling and expresses the love between Alaina and Lindsey. I really love this series very nuch and hope for a continuing with baited breath. Ps: I really really love vampire and this just boost my love for them even more. Don't wait another minute, READ!! - Kuu - Jun-05-2007

I first read this about 6 years ago, and I still remember the impact I felt after finishing it. It is still the only fanfic to have made me cry (I have read countless stories over the years) and I still tear up after numerous reads. This is one of the very few fanfics that sit on my hard drive on my PC. Once in a while I will pull it out, remember my love for this wonderful show and feel that gutwrenching feeling all over again. Powerful, moving, and a must read. - Kez - Jun-03-2007

  • Announcement from Ali Vali

It's been awhile since I've sent one of these out and I just wanted to let you all in on what's going on. Some of you have been asking me to put up a website already, and I decided to try a little something new. I have a new site up at myspace so if you'd like to take a look please visit www.myspace.com/alivali. I'll be posting new blogs every so often to let you in on what's going on with upcoming books, online stories and upcoming events. The site will also be a good place to keep up with Bold Strokes Books blogs and find out what other books are on the horizon.

Secon Season is done and will be available in July. This is the first story where I've written about New Orleans after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. For more information please visit www.boldstrokesbooks.com. Now it's on to the third in the Devil series, but more on that later.

I hope that everyone is doing well and enjoying the start of summer. After a year in the new house I did something on Sunday that I haven't done in forever. I walked barefoot in my grass. Yes, I know that sounds strange, but you had to see the lawn when we moved in, and just how crazy I am about my grass. After 365 days of watering, fertilizing and talking nice to it, the lawn finally resembles something of what we had at the old house. And we have trees and it would seem oyster shell, but you'll have to ask about that. lol

Take care and please check out the myspace page.

    Ali

Author of The Devil Inside, Carly's Sound, The Devil Unleashed, and of Second Season due out in 2007 from Bold Strokes Books. For more information please visit www.boldstrokesbooks.com.

Not only have I read it to my children but I did not take the authors suggestion to censor part of her wonderful story. My kids loved it!!! At age 4 and 6, they are picky listeners when it comes to bedtime stories and so far, they've asked me to read it to them three nights in a row!!! The Labyrinth is one of the best-written pieces of Star Trek fiction I've read. It's smart and exciting with intrigue and action, and the characterizations seem spot-on. I usually go for T/7 stories, but this one centering on Janeway (to be paired with your interesting original character) definitely works for me. More soon please!! - Lisel - May-22-2007

The Seduction of Laura By S. Anne Gardner (Original / Uber - Modern, 118 Pages)
I've read this story many times, and it never fails to leave me with chills. It's not a light read by any means. There are no flowers and bows, no 'fluff' if you will. It's dark, really dark. And incredibly disturbing. With that being said, I do love it. It has stayed with me from the very first time I read it. I keep returning to it, because I simply cannot shake it. If you haven't read it, please do. It's not to be missed. - Melissa - May-12-2007

The Long Way Home By Jamie Boughen (X:WP, 36 Pages)
Fantastic alternative to Bitter Suite! I agree with the author, an all singing, dancing episode did not a satisfying closure make. This fic thankfully scratches that particular itch. Highly recommended. - Anonymous - May-09-2007
A Long Kiss in the Warm Summer Rain By Alan Plessinger (X:WP, 17 Pages)
I really liked this, but I can't help feeling it was also quite unsettling by what it explored. In order to spare my poor sub-loving nerves I really had to suspend my disbelief concerning the characters and their actions. However, there's a cracking story underneath the trauma and it's intriguing to see a whole new darker avenue to what makes the core of X/G's relationship. This fic is bitter-sweet certainly and liberally peppered with little stings in it's tale. Very well written and well worth reading! - Anonymous - May-09-2007

By An Unseen Hand By BluInk (X:WP, 84 Pages)
Now this is a hidden little gem. The story is basically about a scribe stuck with a dead Gabby in her head. Why? Well, that would be telling but on top of that she also has to deal with weird little old ladies, hyperactive houses, curious War Gods and a very unhappy suspicious Warrior Princess. Overall there's lots to enjoy in this rather unusual and imaginative Xena fic. I found Miriam the scribe quite likable and could sympathize with the problems that can only come from having a dead Gabby in your head. Most definitely worth reading! - Uzu - May-08-2007

The Last Conqueror By Kamouraskan and Lariel (X:WP, 115 Pages)
This was an unexpected treat. A really unique Conqueror fic where it ain't Xena in the big golden chair, it's someone much, much worse! Our heroines have their work cut out for them thanks to this development. And wait till you see where Xena's been kicking her heels since she was last deposed! Pesky Amazon schemes, betrayals and disturbing prophecies all make for a fantastic highly entertaining story. And at a modest 16 chapters, it ain't short. It's also complete, so if you don't want to be left gnawing at a cliffhanger, check out The Bard's Corner for some blessed relief. Great stuff! - Uzu - May-07-2007
    Justice Satisfied By R. D. Elliott (X:WP, 61 Pages)
Powerful and gripping. It depicts two women at the brink of utter self-destruction. One courts madness while the other drowns in hopeless despair. It gets to a point where the GabDrag seems like a sun kissed blessing in comparison to the torment these two put themselves through. Gabrielle in particular is a very harsh mistress to herself. If you like exploring possibilities of the Rift in one of its darker yet ultimately more satisfying incarnations, this is well worth preserving right through to the end. Highly recommended. - Uzu - May-07-2007

  • We have a very special request from Lori Meyers (loriameyers@netzero.net)

I need to ask you a huge favor. Let me explain my situation to you. I'm recovering from clinical depression, the doctors have finally found the right combination of drugs and my mind is finally coming out of the fog, so to speak. I've had this condition my entire life and sometimes it is worse than other times. My problem is that I am unable to work during the bouts of severe depression and have been living off of what little savings I have plus the occasional help of my family, when they've been able to. (My family can't help right now, we just found out my dad has cancer.) But my funds are almost gone and I need some help. I'm turning to the Xenite community because I know we've been able to help people in the past who have had similar needs. I was able to a long time ago and now I'm in need. Can anyone please help me at this time?

M.I.C.K.E.Y. By msprism (Original / Uber - Modern, 55 Pages)
In the delightful tradition of creme brulee's Cooking on High, a comic Uber so well written and witty that it makes you completely forget the lurking shadows of a certain blue-/green-eyed TV duo (yes, I think that's a GOOD thing). The sudden twists and turns do not dilute the emotional savor of the tale. - paedagogue - Apr-29-2007

Desolation By MJB (X:WP, 109 Pages)
An absolutely riveting story. I really enjoyed this alternative to Season 5 where facing off against murderous Gods turns out to be the least of Xena and Gabby's problems. There's some smashing interaction amongst the characters and there's an intriguing development involving the Roman Emperor's least favourite son. Overall, the main meat and bones of the story doesn't disappoint and it certainly keeps you guessing whatever the outcome might be. This is definitely well worth reading. - Uzu - Apr-27-2007

I really love how this 'recommendations' process works. If it weren't for this function I'd miss out on tones of brilliant fiction. And this short story is no exception, it was a delight to read and I wish there had been more of it. Would it be improper of me to DEMAND a sequel? Somehow I don't think I'm alone in my request. Right? - Sai - Apr-27-2007

  • We've a pair of questions from the 'net today. Know the answer? E-mail us at: bardeyes2@xenafiction.net or webwarrior@xenafiction.net
  • I'm looking for a link to a piece of Xenafic & apparently the two main characters are a young woman who's just about to go to veterinary school and the woman who owns the ranch/horse trainers where the girl comes for the summer, possibly because it's where the girl's father works (can't remember).

My better half thinks that the young woman might have a fiancé or boyfriend called Gage in the story, but she's not sure. Also, there might be a scene with the younger woman noticing the older woman has a strap on. Any help locating the story would be welcome…

Do you know if the author Junebug ever finished her uber story "Night and Day?" I think this is the best uber ever written but haven't seen an update for it for 3 years. Any clues?

Bedsacks By Emperor Penguin (X:WP, 6 Pages)
At first glance this story does exactly what it says on the tin, it's basically about Gabby buying a bedsack. But once you start reading it, you'll find it's also chock full of some great light hearted banter between a bored Xena and her bargain hunting bard. Tempting bard bottoms and the evils of chicken feathers contribute to making this story short but very sweet. Definitely worth a gander. - Uzu - Apr-24-2007
