  I really enjoyed the banter between the characters. It flowed very well from the movies then back into the TV show. I never really paid that much attention to the Birds of Prey show but luckily, I didn't need more than an idea of what the show was about in order to appreciate this story. The characters are memorable and I admit that I'm a bit curious about what other kinds of BoP fan fiction might be out there.   What a fantastic story! We see some old faces from the world of XWP but they are not the characters you expect them to be. Gabrielle fans will be intrigued by this version of her character. She is certainly not what the fanfiction cannon usually supplies ,and it is so refreshing and believable that I want to see more about this Gabrielle. The first story from this exceptionally talented bard is dark, violent, gritty and not for everyone. But, for me that is what makes it fresh, exciting and so satisfying.   This is a beautifully written short story. The importance of this work is not in the plot but rather in it's exploration of the search for meaning in life and the profound insights offered. The author quotes R.D. Lang 'what we think is so much less than what we know, and what we know is so much less than what there is, and what there is is so much less than what we love, and to that extent we are so much less than what we could be.'
